If you also have the Heredis software on an iOS device, you can transfer your genealogy file to this device.
N.B.: Each version of Heredis has its own file format. This transfer will only work if both software are in the same version (e.g. Heredis 2024 to Heredis 2024) or if you are transferring it to convert it to a higher version (e.g. Heredis 2023 to Heredis 2024).
This transfer method does not allow you to upgrade to a lower version of the software (for example, from the Heredis 2024 to the Heredis 2023).
Note: The version of the screenshots below may differ from yours, but the content of the article applies to your version as well.
On the computer where your genealogy file is located, open Heredis 2024 and go to menu File -> Prepare to transmit:
Follow the instructions to save the file (we advise you not to modify the name and location suggested by the application). Once the export is complete, you can transfer the file in .hmwz format to a cloud or attach it to an e-mail.
Download the zipped .hmw file from the email you've received on the iOS device where you want to receive the genealogy file, unzip it and choose Heredis 2024 to open it, as illustrated below.
Please note: the file will open automatically when downloaded from your mailbox.
To send your file through a Cloud application ( such as iCloud, Google drive, etc....):
Note: compression is not required here, so you can send the file in hmwz format directly.
If the size of your zipped family tree exceeds 20 MB, it may be rejected by your mailbox. In this case, you'll need to send it via a Cloud application, as illustrated below.
As your genealogy is exported, you can send it to iCloud.
Alternatively, you could upload your file to Google drive (or any other Cloud application you may be using):
Then, once you are on the target iOS device, you'll need to go to "Files" and browse back to the root.
Now choose the appropriate Cloud application in order to download your genealogy:
Download the file and open it with Heredis 2024.
