This issue usually occurs after a Mac OS update that has changed the settings for recent items.
To restore normal operation in Heredis, quit the application if it is already open.

A menu at the top left is available to select your macOS version:
Then navigate to the section “Change the number of items listed in the Apple menu.”
Select a number between 5 and 15.
This number will correspond to the number of recent files that Heredis can display.
Then restart Heredis, open and close various files, and you should see that the display of recent files has returned to normal.
