As a general rule:
You should close all cloud backup software, such as OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox and iCloud, when working on Heredis.
The same applies to software that creates local backups of your data or hard drive/partition clones.
Do not run any software of this type at the same time as Heredis, as this can cause irreparable damage to your genealogy files.
======================================
Please note that Heredis does not support dual access to files. If your cloud synchronisation (e.g. Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox or iCloud) occurs while you are working in Heredis:
- You risk losing your entire genealogy file or causing irreparable damage to it.
- You also risk losing all your high-quality media and ending up with pixelated thumbnails.
Therefore, it is not recommended to allow synchronisation to take place while the file is open in Heredis.
You should rather setup this synchronization outside of working hours on Heredis.
Symptoms of a file that is being accessed by multiple users:
These include errors such as: Access violation, error 5 when writing files or 'Access denied', as well as media loss, low-resolution media and data loss.
You must leave your genealogies in their default directory.
Documents > BSD Concept > Heredis > My Genealogies.
Once you have finished working on Heredis, exit the program.
You can then manually or automatically copy your genealogies to your cloud directories.
Never store your original files exclusively in a cloud directory.
Finally, you must also ensure that no scans are launched automatically on your machine while you are working on Heredis. This includes all antivirus software as well as cleaning software such as CCleaner.
