This procedure aims to create a new local Windows account with administrator rights.
This is necessary when the operating system malfunctions, affecting the use of the software.
1) Connect an external storage device such as a USB stick or external hard drive.
2) Open your family tree in Heredis and go to File > USB Sync. A message will indicate when the transfer is complete.
==If you have multiple genealogies to transfer, repeat the above process for each genealogy==
3) Create a local administrator account named "HEREDIS", following this procedure:
- Procedure for Windows 10
- Procedure for Windows 11
4) Log out of your own session, then log in to the "HEREDIS" session.
5) Navigate to this link and scroll down to download your version of Heredis:
https://help.heredis.com/les-liens-dinstallation-de-heredis/.
Install Heredis in administrator mode by right-clicking on the installation file > Run as administrator > Respond "YES" to the request in the following window.
7) When you launch Heredis, you will be asked to synchronise each of your genealogies.
Respond "YES" and then "OK" to each window .
Your genealogies will then be copied to the default Heredis location.
The end of each transfer is indicated by this window again :
9) Finally, your genealogies are added one by one to the Heredis homepage to make them easier to access.
They are also accessible via the button on the left or via the File > Open menu.
Open one of the genealogies and repeat the steps that caused the original problem.
They should not occur again.
