To start downloading the converted and/or restored file by Heredis' technical service, click on the link that was sent to you by email. This link starts with :
https://telechargement2.heredis.com/client/arenvoyer/
Step 1 : Download and place the file in the right place
The download is done via your internet browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge...). Depending on your browser settings, you may get a window asking you where you want to save the file. Select the location Documents -> BSD Concept -> Heredis -> Heredis Files :
If your browser starts the download without asking you where it should be saved, it is because it is set up to always place all downloads in a specific folder. By default, this is the "Downloads" folder :
If the file is saved in another location than Documents -> BSD Concept -> Heredis -> Heredis Files, you need to move it to this location.
Here is how to do it :
Go to the location where the file is saved (here it is in the default Downloads folder), select the file and click on "Cut" :
On Windows 11, it will be this icon rather to cut :
Go to Documents -> BSD Concept -> Heredis -> Heredis Files and select "Paste" :
On Windows 11, it will be this icon rather to paste :
Step 2 : Unzip the file
In order to be sent to you, your genealogy has been zipped. That's why you see a zipper on the icon of the file.
To unzip this file, right click on it and select "Extract All" :
Your file is now unziped.
Step 3 : Open your genealogy in Heredis
The file that has been sent to you has been named differently from the one you sent to us so as not to confuse the old and the new file.
Open the Heredis software. On the home page, click on "Open a Heredis file" :
In the window, go to the location where you stored the file, select the file you just unzipped and click on "Open" :
Then :
The file will then open in the program and it will now appear on the home page.
Don't forget to integrate your original media by following this procedure:
Step 4 : Rename the file and delete the old one (optional)
The Heredis technical service has given a name to your file, you may want to rename it differently. To do this, you can follow the instructions given in this article : Rename a file
Be careful not to give it exactly the same name as the old file so as not to confuse them.
Finally, you can delete the old file that you should no longer use.
This is not mandatory. If you are afraid of doing something wrong, you can keep the old file. The main thing is to make sure that you don't confuse the two files so that you don't accidentally add data to the old file because it won't be present in the "good" file.
To completely delete the old file from the computer, go to Documents -> BSD Concept -> Heredis -> Heredis Files on your computer, right click on the folder and select "Delete" :
On Windows 11, it will rather be this icon to delete a file :
The genealogy is then placed in the Bin. It will be completely and permanently deleted from the computer the next time you empty the Bin.
