You fail to share your genealogy file over the network with Heredis for macOS.
The following procedure aims at completely resetting local sharing between two machines.
Please note the following statements :
- Heredis 2023 and Heredis 2024 software and mobile applications must be used on compatible computers or mobile devices. Compatibility list available below:
Compatibility of Heredis versions with Mac & Windows
- Heredis versions are only compatible with versions bearing the same version number
(e.g. Heredis 2023 for Windows is only compatible with :
* Heredis 2023 for macOS
* Heredis 2023 for Android
* Heredis 2023 for iOS)
- Also, the "Refresh" button is only available as from Heredis 2024.
It aims at refreshing the list of devices available for "sharing on the local network".
WARNING = BE CAREFUL IF THE MOST RECENTLY MODIFIED GENEALOGY FILE IS ON YOUR MOBILE DEVICE :
If so, you must transfer this file to your computer following one of these methods (excluding Share on local network ):

Indeed, the file will be deleted from the mobile device during the reset procedure.
It is up to you to recover your genealogy file from your mobile device before proceeding using one of the methods listed above.
Step 1: Reset the connection on the sending machine
Click on the appropriate case :

Quit Heredis completely if it is open, then deactivate Wi-Fi :
Then reactivate Wi-Fi : :
Next, go to the Mac's System Preferences/System Settings and select Network ::
Then click Advanced :
Go to the TCP/IP tab and click on Renew DHCP lease.
Finally, restart Heredis, remain on the software's home page and go on to step 3.
Step 2: Reset the connection on the target machine
Click on the appropriate case :
To Windows (click here to view)
Then download the following file : : sharing_reset_target.zip.
Once the file has been downloaded, right-click on it and select Extract All. Open the directory named "folder_reset_share_sourceB and double-click on the file "reset_share_source.cmd".
Finally, Heredis will open on the target machine. Stay on the Heredis home page and proceed to step 3.

Next, go to the Mac's System Preferences/System Settings and select Network ::

Please note that uninstalling the Android application will delete all genealogy files on the device. Consult the preamble at the top of the page before proceeding, if necessary.
On your Android device, quit Heredis, uninstall Heredis , switch off the Android device, switch it back on and reinstall Heredis for Android from your Play Store account
(No need to buy the app again, you'll find the download link in your Play Store account).
Relaunch Heredis for Android, granting all the access authorizations requested by the application:
Finally, once you've arrived at the Heredis for Android home page, make sure your screen display stays on and proceed to step 3.

Please note that uninstalling the iOS application will delete all Heredis files on the device. Consult the preamble at the top of the page before continuing, if necessary.
On your iOS device, quit Heredis, uninstall Heredis, turn off the device, turn it back on and reinstall Heredis for iOS from the App store
(there's no need to buy the app again, you'll find the download link in your App store account).)
Relaunch Heredis for iOS, granting all the access authorizations requested by the application:
Finally, once you've arrived at the Heredis for Android home page, make sure the screen display stays on and proceed to step 3.
Step 3 : Sharing a test file = The sample family file
Then try sharing the Sample family file from the sending device to the target device.

Refer to this link to share the Sample family file "in initial sharing mode" according to your configuration.
=> 1st possible outcome: You succeed in sharing the sample Family file
You have succeeded in sharing the Sample family file, you now need to repeat the above procedure with your own genealogy.
This may take some time, depending on the size of your genealogy and your network speed.
If you've managed to share your tree, be sure to refer to the section on "sharing in data update mode" to update your family tree on each of the two machines currently sharing your family tree.

Note: If your genealogy file cannot be shared (or the sharing process results in an error message), even though sharing the sample file was successful, then your genealogy file may be damaged.
